Thanks to the following for their help, without which we would not have been able to stage the race: Mark Agnew, Mel Price, Zoe Tinnion, Aine Astbury, Craig and Jenny Henn, Maria and Eva Spurling, Robin Bacon, Maryke Fox, David Mullin, Mark and Rachael Bollom, Pete Hudson, Helen Stokes, Charlie and Jill Leventon, Rick Robson, Dave Nichols, Tony Thompson, Tim Parker, Hugh Morgan-Jones, Richard Day and family, Noel Hogan, John Taylor, Emma Gould, Will Laye, Val Swingler, Ian Grindley and Adrian Donnelly. Apologies if I've missed anyone out.
Helen Berry fell between CP2 and CP3 and has sadly broken her ankle. Massive thanks for the quick response to those helping her where she fell and also those involved in evacuating her to the road and then back to race HQ: Johnny Malley (Ambleside - who gave up his race to help), Tom Roo, Glen Davies, Richard Roberts, Tim Parker, Dave Nichols and Rick Robson. At times like this we rely totally on the quick thinking of other runners and marshals to avoid a bad situation becoming worse. The spirit of the sport is really brought out by how many people just dropped what they were doing to help get Helen safely off the hills. Thank you all again.
I understand from Mel that it could have been worse in terms of the degree of injury, and that Helen had an operation the following day to put in a plate which will help her make a speedy recovery. All our best wishes to her for a very speedy and full recovery.
Provisional results for today's Long Mynd Valleys championship round are available here.
Team results will be on the FRA website soon. Spot prizes of a free pair of Mudclaws / x-Talons were won by Tom Foster (nearest to two hours) and John Sharples (nearest my PB), and a £20 Pete Bland voucher was awarded to Mark Roberts - Happy Birthday.
