Batch Bash Race Report - 22nd May 2019 - 4.8km 305mtrs AS

A great turn out of 126 people with to my knowledge the only injury being someone with a really bad heal blister from a previous run. A local in the Batch valley told me while setting up “We like your race as it signals the start of summer!” Everyone seemed to have fun and enjoy it – the main reason to hold these events. We had good weather yet again, and I was thankful for lots of volunteers to marshal – Thank you all. At it was great to be hosted by the local Yew Tree Pub, now with new Owners. Daniel Connelly had returned all the way from Uni in Loughborough, winning and beating Tim Davies record in 24.50! A fantastic achievement. It may well be our current course is shorter than when Tim ran his record though. Second man Jack Agnew & Steve Cale not far behind. In the women’s Mel Price wins again (31.24) in what I know is one of her favourite races and two young up and coming racers Josie Lloyd and Gwyneth Parry 2nd & 3rd. And this was several peoples first fell race including my Partner Adele who was pleased not to be last!
