Results for the Cannock Chase Trigs points race are available here.
Sundays Trig Race was run in dry but bitterly cold conditions with the ground being generally good. A close finish saw Rob Little use his local knowledge to just keep out Mercia's Paul Jones. It is understood that some sub optimal routes were run by them in efforts to confuse/loose the other. Certainly their legs showed signs of gorse and brambles not found on the tracks.
I would like to thank the local Forestry Commission and SCC staff who made the gaining of permissions much smoother this year. That said there seems to be a constant threat against staging events like this on Cannock Chase.
I must especially comment on the very positive response from Mercia members to help this year. Along with my loyal and long standing group of 'locals' - most nothing to do with Mercia - I was in the enviable and embarrassing position of actually saying no to some volunteers - please do not take any offence if you were one. But please do offer again next year (if we can stage the race). In all I needed 27 marshals and helpers, plus Mel's 2 smaller helpers, to do this safely.
So the 31st Trig has passed safely and without incident, and there were 122 starters, 120 finishers. Hopefully see you all again next year.
