After enjoying breakfast at the village hall 75 walkers and runners from all over the midlands started the inaugural Wistanstow Walk. Setting out to cover 26 miles in South West Shropshire, they visited checkpoints at Clun and Bishop’s Castle Fire Stations and climbed to the top of Ridgeway Hill, Clunton Hill and Oakley Mynd.

Glorious weather throughout the day ensured that the walkers could enjoy some wonderful panoramic views of Shropshire.

58 walkers and runners made it back to the finish where they all (including those who retired) enjoyed a hearty meal to replenish their energy supplies!

The event, raised over £600 which will be divided between Wistanstow Primary School and The Fire Service National Benevolent Fund.

The organisers would like to thank,  County Tiles and Bathrooms Ludlow, Wenlock Spring Water Limited, The Montgomeryshire Spring Water Company, Woods Brewery, Walls Butchers and Pughs Butchers for their support and assistance.

The first men to return were Phil Butler and Martin Godwin in 5hrs 45mins, first ladies were, Julia Ann Kelly and Alison Hartshorne in 6hrs 59mins and the last finisher, who received a standing ovation was Claire Taylor who took 11hrs 16mins
