For the occasion of the Fell Relay Championship last October we had permission to breach the fence at the top of Rectory Field. Immediately after the race we reinstated it.
Since then the fence has fallen into some disrepair to the point where stock might have been tempted to have a go at jumping it.
Although unlikely that runners had “adopted” this as a route on or off the hill (there being some evidence that adventurous youth have passed this way) it was of concern in case the perception grew that Mercia FR had some sort of remnant responsibility.
To counter any such perception the fence has now been completely overhauled thanks to Roger Lloyd (skilled artisan) and Charlie Leventon (arm waver). The result is shown in the attached pictured.
Please spread the word so that Mercia FR continues to build its good reputation with the local community.
