On Sunday 24th June, Mercia's ladies completed their Olympic challenge to climb 20,000 feet in 12 hours. The challenge was completed as a relay by: Emily Millington, Jane Mapp, Mel Price, Ruth Stafford, Naomi Watson, Debbie Pitt, Stella Denniss, Dianne Spencer, Sharon Davies, Jane Rowlands, Polly Gibb, Christine Lloyd and Pauline Richards.
The ladies ran seven laps of a slightly shortened Callow Fell Race course and then those left at the death ran up to Pole Bank to celebrate with Champagne, strawberries and cream.
We all owe Emily a massive shout up for coming up with the idea and organising things, along with Tom Roo, Al Tye, John Taylor, Russell Mapp, Graham Spencer and Ais.
My personal highlights were being run into the ground by Jane on leg 6, and the excellent cakes baked by Polly and Pauline to raise money for Cystic Fibrosis.
Alistair and Graham's pictures from the 20 in 12 challenge are here. A full wirte up and some photos will appear in the newsletter shortly.
