Mark Bollam's LE Jog Completion

On Tuesday 19th April 2011 I arrived at John o'Groats having successfully completed my end to end ride. I really enjoyed the experience, managing to complete the 896 mile journey over a 10 day period in a total time of a little over 55 hours.

First of all I want to say a big thanks to everyone who sponsored me. I’ve so far managed to raise over £1000 for the charity MIND.
It's still possible to donate at www.virginmoneygiving.com/markbollom.
What I really want to do though is acknowledge all of the support and encouragement I've had along the way.
The Tuesday evening alternative at Geoff and Leena Cowell's was amazing both in terms of the lift it gave me and in terms of the funds it raised. A huge thanks to G and L for going to all of that trouble and to everyone who came along.
I've also had some fantastic company on the road too. Anna B (future Merica-ha!) and Richard Roberts rode with me through Shropshire. In fact Richard came all the way to Warrington with me - needless to say at a rate of knots!
I was joined in Carnforth by Keith and Pauline. Keith rode on from there with me all the way to the top of Scotland and needless to say the support of both K and P was second to none. I hope I can return the support to Keith when he does it...!
Joe and Lindsey Faulkner were kind enough to put us all up in the Lakes(twice). Joe then had a day on the road with me and Keith. Together we managed to negotiate Glasgow and magnificent entry into the Scottish Hills over the Campsie Fells. That was a great day.
Dave and Elaine have helped me through this website and through the newsletter to publicise what I've done, so big thanks to them.
Finally though, I want to acknowledge the support and commitment of my wife Rachael who drove the whole thing in support of me. I was never more than 10miles away from an emergency pie or drink, and along with Caroline (her daughter) in the first 4 days and Pauline for the second half of the trip I was spoilt rotten!
Thanks to all... Mark B
